Since the age of 2, I have been able to draw recognizable figures, such as bunnies, dogs, self portraits, etc. My parents encouraged my enthusiasm for art. When I grew up I went to my dream school, California College of Arts and Crafts. I graduated with a BFA in Illustration with High Distinction. As I have continued to do my artwork post college my true passion has become portrait painting. I love capturing the personality of my subjects both Animal and Human.
Mostly I paint with Oil Paints. I feel that is the medium that allows me the softness and flexibility to capture the life within my subjects. I am happy and capable of using other mediums such as acrylic, water color, graphite, charcoal as needed or requested. Something that one of my teachers from college said about me was that "there isn't a color she doesn't love" and that is very true. I am in love with the vibrancy of color and how colors impact each other on the canvas.
In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my family and my dogs. That time together and adventures we take in Nature and other places are what fuel my work. Some of my artistic influences are my teachers that I studied with such as Dugald Stermer, Barron Story, Robert Hunt and Mark Eanes. My favorite artists include Edgar Degas, N.C. Wyeth, Norman Rockwell and John Singer Sergent to just name a few. Some of my fondest memories growing up were going to museums with my Mom or my Great Aunt Pat and continue to be a cherished activity for me to this day.
